1. Lectio (eat the scroll)

Read the below scripture portion slowly and out loud.

Listen intently with your heart knowing God is speaking directly to you through His Word.

Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest… the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Rev. 1:12-20)

2. Meditatio (meditate)

Read again, slowly, pausing to let the words sink deeply into your mind and heart.

I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man

The Lord presents Jesus using the imagery of the Holy Place in the Tabernacle of God, presenting Jesus as High Priest ministering amongst the 7 lampstands, which are His churches.

Ruminate on this Word. How does Jesus’ active ministry in the midst of His churches apply to your life right now?

“in the midst of the lampstands [I saw] one like a son of man”

As His living Word flows, give your attention to it.

Without overspiritualizing, what does God seem to be saying to you?

3. Oratio (converse with Him about His Living Word in you)

Respond.

Talk to God about your inward movements:

• How does Jesus’ responsibility and active ministry as High Priest over His churches make you feel?
• What action or attitude do you feel called to embrace?
• What lies have you believed that this truth confronts?

Respond from your heart to what God is saying.

4. Contemplatio (wait on Him)

Ask and listen for more of what He’s saying.

Linger quietly, patiently in His Presence.

Await His living Words.

As He speaks, yield fully to him. If you notice resistance, rebellion, defiance, or trepidation in your heart, repent of these things and yield your heart without reservation to Him. Ask for His help.

Entrust your past, present, and future to the Lord in light of what he has spoken.

5. Adoratio (worship Him)

Conclude your time at this well with thanksgiving and adoration.

Thank God for what He has given you here.

Use the worship song on the right if you like, or any other song and approach that best brings your heart of adoration before the Lord on this topic.

6. Ambulo (walk to the next station with Him)

Now walk slowly to the next station. Follow the path, use your map.

Keep your heart before Him and your attention on Him.

He is with you. You are His. Walk with Him. Enjoy His creation with Him.
